Behavior

Settlement decreases outstanding exposure according to the observed settlement fact while preserving historical authorization and consumption movements.

Key point The credit ledger retains facts as movements. A correction produces a new explicit movement instead of silently rewriting a historical fact.

Limits and responsibilities

  • Do not use settle simply to make capacity available: it must correspond to a real settlement or payment fact.
  • The node performs no payment; it updates the credit ledger accordingly.
